Recently Miri PAS make a visit with PAS Deputy President Haji Mohamad Sabu to survey the living conditions of the residents of Kampung Lusut Jaya 3 who experiencing water shortages which are often disconnected. According to one of the residents known as Jimbai ak Sigi, they had to use water from the catchment tank which they bought their own to get clean water because tap water cannot be used at all even though the water meter is installed.

They have been applying for clean water supply since 2008 and before that they also had voiced a similar problem to the relevant authorities but until now the problem of clean water supply has yet to be fully resolved.

Although the tap water does not come out, they had to pay a water bill every month RM5 for water meter pipe. They feel the loss by paying for water meters that does not functioning and there is no service and they are also very disappointed with the attitude of those responsible in the management of water supply to disregard their problems all this while.

There are also among those had to use water in the pond catchment for daily use but when the dry season, the water reservoir in the pond is dry and of course this will make it difficult for them to get water for daily use.

Furthermore, the water reservoir in the pool is not very suitable for cleaning the food and also not safe to drink, and it is most suitable for mosquito breeding especially after the rainy season.

Among others problem there are still many Lusut Jaya villagers who have not received assistance of 1Malaysia water tank as promised by the BN government. They are very much in need the tank to collect rain water for use during the dry season or when water runs out.

We urge the LAKU (Northern Region Water Board), and related parties to immediately address this problem from prolonged. This matter has already been reported before, but until now there was no follow-up action taken to overcome this problem.

Cooperation with all parties involved to resolve the problem of Lusut Jaya 3 village is very much appreciated.
