Electrical problems and Basic Amenities in Sibuti yet to Fully Resolved

SIBUTI – Bulau village is located in Sibuti constituency. Most of the residents are Malay origin and mostly work as farmers and self-employed.

Recently, Roselin residents one of Kg Bulau complained to us about the problems of electricity in their village. She said the pole and electric cables have long been installed about two years ago but the problem is the electricity meter is installed but no electricity supply to their house. She has already paid the collateral deposits to install electricity to her house, but to date has yet to be used.

According to her the problem of electricity supply in Kg Bulau has long occur, the villagers had to use gensets where the cost of petrol used by rm500 to RM600 a month. For those who are less fortunate had to use candles because they could not buy a generator.

This problem should not happen again in their villages because of the recent Sarawak government had approved an allocation of RM66 million to carry electricity to Sibuti 2009-2014. Allocation was announced by the Minister of Resource Planning and Environment Second Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan at-the-people session at Rh Leaders Kalom Duat, Kelintang River, Sibuti recently.

The same thing happened to the residents of Kg Tiris, where some of them have long been apply for electricity until now the electric meter also cannot be used. In a related problem also occurs the wire cable on the electric pole in Kg Tiris that curled like a snake that can threaten the safety or electric shock if the SESCO do not act quickly to overcome them.

Apart of the problems of electricity supply, the villagers in Kg Bulau also urges the government to immediately repair the road in their village about 6.5 km from the main road as there are no pavements / premix or tarred road because it is difficult for them to go out to town especially in the rainy season.

Additionally, besides the problem of electricity supply and roads, the villagers also urged the government to give permanent land titles to residents who have lived in the village for more than 100 years.

Although recently there are the lot of houses measured in haste but they want permanent land titles so that their living quarters are safe and not threatened by certain parties if the government wants to develop their place.

We urge that the relevant authority able to resolve this matter as soon as possible, in collaboration with the relevant authorities is highly appreciated.
