Drains Blockage and stagnant water should be cleaned immediately at the Residential Area
MIRI - Housing in Taman Desa Phase 1 Senadin facing clogged drains and stagnant water around the housing area. Housing residents there fear that, if the problem is not resolved immediately it can lead to Aedes mosquito breeding occurs in their neighborhoods. This has long been occurred but no action taken by the parties concerned to resolve it.
Likewise drains in Pujut 3 not far from Kindergarten SeDidik Sg Adong also facing the same problem where the drain is full of bushes cause stagnant water.
We do not want the children who learned in Kindergarten there exposed of dengue fever infections caused by mosquitoes breeding in the drains that are clogged and the surrounding area are dirty and not cleaned.
Efforts to prevent and control dengue infection should be enhanced in collaboration with the residents to maintain cleanliness around their homes.
According to the Mayor of Miri City Council (MCC), Lawrence Lai, the numbers of dengue fever cases were reported between February and March this year has decreased. "A total of 12 cases of dengue fever were reported in the city in March, a decrease of five cases compared to 17 cases reported during February," he said at a meeting of the members of the Council of MCC as reported in the local newspaper.
Although dengue cases decreased, the authorities should also continue to monitor the situation around the housing that facing problems of clogged drainage and garbage problems that are not properly maintained.
We urge the parties concerned to immediately doing maintenance of the clogged drains along the main street in the residential area.
Do not let this drag on because the effect would involve the people who live in the housing area and the surrounding area. Cooperation with relevant parties to resolve this issue is greatly appreciated.
