Sabah
menentukan kenaikan harga minyak mengikut harga pasaran negara Brunei
arus pembangunan.

Sabah
and Sarawak should be exempted from fuel price hike
In early June of
this year is the celebration of the Gawai for the Dayak community in Sarawak
and were greeted with the fuel price hike by 10 cent. Both RON95 and diesel
rose at RM2.05 per liter, while RON97 up at RM2.35 per liter.
Of course to some
extent inevitably have an impact on Dayak community who return back to their
villages and longhouses with the rising cost of fuel prices on transport fares.
While the
government warned that none of the dealers increase the prices of goods, but
due to increased transportation costs they have also raised fares to cover the
cost of rising fuel prices.
When the cost of
transport fares go up, the dealers would also raise the price of their sales of
goods in addition to GST, which eventually users will also bear the burden on
the increase of this fuel price hike.
Sabah and Sarawak
besides Terengganu is the largest state oil and of course, a consideration to
raise the royalties to provide many benefits to the people of Sabah and Sarawak
should be given priority.
If difficult for
the federal government to provide 20 per cent royalty to Sabah and Sarawak it
can give privileges to set the price of petrol in Sabah and Sarawak in line
with the price of petrol in Brunei. This
can be viewed as superseded for royalties that are still difficult to obtain.
The price of
gasoline or oil in Brunei in May 2015 RM1.41 per liter, when compared with the
price of RON97 in Malaysia is certainly much difference which is at RM2.25 per
liter in May last month. We make a comparison with Brunei because it is the
nearest neighbor for Sabah and Sarawak in that case the people of Sabah and
Sarawak should also enjoy the same gasoline prices with Brunei.
Sabah and Sarawak
should be exempted from fuel price hike every month because it is the largest
contributor to the national income of petroleum products.
Rising oil prices
every month is certainly cause people in the country is burdened with
increasing cost of living especially with the GST, which adds more burden to
people, especially small and medium-income groups.
This oil price hike
will definitely be felt by the population in rural and remote areas of Sarawak
because they had to buy this petrol prices higher than the prices in the city
without supervision from the government.
We urge the federal
government to provide flexibility to Sabah and Sarawak in determining increase
in oil prices according to the market price of Brunei as the quality and yield
of oil from Sabah and Sarawak is the same as in Brunei.
We hope this can be
noted and taken into consideration of the federal government in determining the
fate of the people of Sabah and Sarawak who have been marginalized from the
mainstream of development.
