Harga Minyak Naik, Rakyat Menanggung Beban

Oil prices rise, the People Bear the Cost

Every time the oil price increases occur, undoubtedly many motorists are rushed to buy fuel at a nearby petrol station causing traffic jams.

Due to a sudden announcement from the government regarding on the price hike of RON95 petrol and diesel by 20 cents per liter on September 2 ago, many users become chaotic at the last minute to get the fuel. They had to queue at all petrol stations simply want to fill their fuel tanks in order to reducing the cost of spending a little due to petrol price will raise the next day.

There was among users are complaining that they want to buy fuel in the evening was blocked supposedly run out of petrol. Why this kind of thing can happen? The government should make an announcement early so that the user does not become chaotic due to rush to buy fuel at the last minute.

People living in rural and remote areas of Sarawak that has yet to get completely electricity supply also be affected by the fuel price hike. Where there are many users in rural areas that still use the ‘gensets’ or generators that use diesel or petrol to get the electricity supply surely this will lead the life of this group  become more difficulty due to the rising cost of fuel to generate electricity will increase.

Although they may only be able to use RON95 at the price of RM1.90 for a few days but the way the government announced an increase in oil prices in the last minute is very regrettable. The impact of rising prices of RON95 petrol and diesel will rise to all daily needs, and this will surely follow, especially in rural areas due to transportation costs will raise as a result of diesel and petrol prices rise.

What is simply by a reason to raise BR1M from RM500 to RM1, 200 cause the people be a victim, not all low-income people get BR1M only a handful of who enjoy it even then they can only be calculated if RM100 per month when compared effects of prices of essential goods rose more than giving BR1M.

This matter should be reviewed so that the problem of rising fuel prices are not troublesome and  burdensome lives of ordinary people, especially those in low-and middle-income. Of the rich and millionaires this problem may be underestimated because their income exceeds the petrol price hike. What is the guarantee of the government to control price hike of essential goods due to rising oil prices?

We urge that the government could decrease the price of fuel to a minimal level so that it not to trouble lives of ordinary people. What is the BN government forget to their voters those living in rural and remote areas that are sure to receive more severe due to the impact of hike oil prices.

Price of daily necessities in rural and remote areas of Sarawak is higher compared to prices of essential goods in the city due to high transportation costs. The concerned government will certainly place the interests of the people first from the interests of the capitalists who only want profits alone.
